Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner made a day-before-primary detour, stopping for a meet and greet at Monarch Landing retirement community in Naperville. Before a standing-room only crowd, the Governor talked about his plans for his next term in office, should he be reelected. He then answered questions and posed for photos with residents of the senior living community.

“We welcome politicians to visit Monarch Landing anytime and we were especially delighted to have the opportunity to host the Governor ,” said Mark Trnka, executive director of Monarch Landing. “I was excited when State Representative Grant Wehrli asked me if we would like to have a visit from Governor Rauner. Our residents are well-educated and very interested in politics and current events. We have a political awareness committee in which resident volunteers are active out in the Naperville area. We also invite politicians to engage with our residents in Q & As on our campus. Regardless of anyone’s political affiliation, meeting and asking questions of the sitting Governor was an exciting opportunity.”
