Senior Living Community is Crushing COVID-19March 11, 2021
They’re crushing COVID and have the bling to show it. All of the residents and employees at Monarch Landing senior living community in Naperville have officially had the opportunity to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Monarch Landing’s second on-site vaccine clinic was held for independent living residents on March 4th. In celebration, residents posed for photos, enjoyed an Orange Crush beverage and received a colorful vaccine T-shirt.
Closely following guidelines from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), in-person group programs, activities, and dining have been limited over the past year. Frequent programming on Monarch Landing’s in-house television station and meal delivery to residents’ apartments were implemented to keep residents and staff busy, well-fed, and healthy. Now, with access to complete vaccination along with continued masking, social distancing and disinfection protocols, Monarch Landing is beginning to open up, increasing committee meetings, fitness and aquatic programming, and dining in the Millstone Restaurant. Visitors are allowed within independent living apartments, and prospective residents are safely touring the community.
“We’ve all worked hard to get to this point in re-introducing the engagement and vibrancy within the community. We’ve proceeded with great caution but also with tremendous anticipation. Having vaccinations available has had a huge impact on everyone, and we’re heading into spring with great optimism,” said Mark Trnka, executive director of Monarch Landing. “We continue to carefully monitor guidance from the CDC, CMS, and IDPH, as it is constantly evolving, and we look forward to promoting further restoration of services and amenities that our residents enjoy and deserve.”
