The Springs Celebrates CNA Week

The Springs at Monarch Landing is honoring the healthcare and rehabilitation center’s staff with gratitude and pride during National CNA Week. This year, observed during June 16-22, the initiative celebrates the community’s approximate 40 Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA). “CNAs are the hearts of care at The Springs,” said Elizabeth VanDerWal, Administrator. As highly valued extra sets of hands to the RNs and LPNs, “they help with daily tasks including meals, getting people ready for the day and looking their best, using the restroom, transferring from one location to the next, and more. Importantly, they also provide emotional support to help residents get through some of their most difficult times.”

”Being a CNA means I get to be family for those that may not have family. I get to hear stories and be part of their lives,” said Barb Martin, a much-loved CNA at The Springs.

Individuals aged 16 and older can become CNAs through training programs at technical schools and community colleges, including the College of DuPage. The Springs offers tuition assistance and reimbursement for qualifying staff members. Many CNAs pursue further healthcare careers, including RNs, LPNs, and administrators.

“At The Springs, our CNAs are VIPs,” said VanDerWal. “We’re proud to have the opportunity to pamper them through the week with massages, swag bags, and special meals.”
