Your Complete Guide to a Life Plan Community

Everyone envisions retirement differently. Whether you’re someone who can’t wait to live in complete relaxation or someone who’s looking forward to exciting, new adventures, Life Plan Communities offer both the peace of mind and services and amenities you’re seeking.

Learn more about these types of communities, like Monarch Landing, and how older adults thrive in an environment that provides them with many living options.

What is a Life Plan Community?

Life Plan Communities, also known as Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs), are senior living communities that provide a combination of lifestyle options and care services.

At Monarch Landing, our lifestyles include independent living, memory care, skilled nursing care, and rehabilitation, met with a wide array of services and amenities that meet every person’s needs.

In general, Life Plan Communities offer a variety of contract types – from Type A (LifeCare) to Type C (Fee-for-Service). Monarch Landing is a Type C (Fee-for-Service) Life Plan Community, meaning seniors don’t have to pay as large of an upfront entrance fee as Type A LifeCare communities. This payment is also partly refundable.

How exactly does it work? While residents at Monarch Landing are required to pay an entrance fee, it comes with a sigh of relief knowing that a Type C entrance fee is typically the lowest admission cost in comparison to other contract types. This payment guarantees access to higher levels of care should you ever need them, and lifetime livability at Monarch Landing even if you outlive your financial resources.

Residents then pay a monthly fee to cover the cost of their residence, home maintenance and utilities, a Preferred Choice dining plan, and access to all community amenities.

In the case that you or a loved one will need to transition to another level of care, payment will increase to match market rates for specific services.

What are the benefits of a Life Plan Community?

The positives of a Life Plan Community are aplenty. Here’s why choosing to move to Monarch Landing means long-term benefits for you and your loved ones.

Financial stability

Having flexibility with our entrance fee helps save as much of your retirement funding as possible for when you might need it most down the road. You may never even need to dig deep into your savings to pay for health care services, making it easier to leave more to your estate or however else you choose to spend your retirement.

Guaranteed, on-site health care

Our one-time admission payment guarantees access to health care services, only if and when they’re needed. Residents may also use their long-term care insurance at Monarch Landing, which can help cover the costs of assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) and other services. Policies differ, so be sure to check with your insurance representative to understand what could be covered for you in the future.
