Residents at Monarch Landing in Naperville Show Gratitude for the Wonderful Staff

Residents at Monarch Landing senior living community in Naperville and The Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center at Monarch Landing recognize and are grateful for the unfailing dedication, kindness, and care they receive from the employees. Residents annually demonstrate this in a very tangible way.

During the holiday season, money collected through residents’ donations for the Employees Appreciation Fund is distributed to all hourly staff.

“The theme of this year’s fundraiser was Thank You to our Monarch Family. This was portrayed through stories and pictures on poster boards promoting the initiative. Monarch Landing is our home. The dedicated staff at Monarch Landing enable us to live in an environment that is safe, healthy, and friendly,” said Employee Appreciation Fund co-chairperson Jackie Plourde.

Employees are not permitted to accept tips or gifts from residents. The resident-driven employee appreciation fund is a way of thanking employees for their enthusiasm and kindness.

At the end of the 2023 drive, donations were tallied totaling a near record high of $163,300.00. This is divided between all hourly employees based on the hours worked during the year. Bonuses were added for designated total years of service. A team of resident volunteers wrote out individual checks, and the chairman of the Resident Advisory Council signed each one.

Staff Appreciation

A celebratory event was held, and department managers handed out the checks.

In addition to Jackie, the employee appreciation fund committee co-chair person was Lew Luttrell. Members of the committee were Pat Carson, Diana Kasper, Jeanette McKinnon, Carol Meis, Rick Saulig, Judy Studtmann, Linda Svejcar, Karen Ventura, and Malachy Walsh.  Pati Saulig was the Resident Advisory Council liaison. Kathy Schreiner, the Resident Advisory Council chair was responsible for signing all of the checks.
